Bhutan is a mystical and exotic tourist destination. The panoramic valleys, himalaya mountains and abundance of flora and fauna makes the country to be on your bucket list. The culture, tradition, Nature and the majestic festivals makes the country so different from the rest of the world. The Valley of Gangtey is truly magnificent and a peaceful place and many call it the Shangri la of Bhutan. With a panoramic view of the valley and beautiful fauna especially during the spring, it’s a true Shangri la. You can go on for a hike that starts from the Gangtey temple and take some amazing pictures for memories on the way. When winter starts the Rare species of Black Necked Crane flies from Tibet to Gangtey and they even have a black-necked crane festival that starts Around mid-November.
3. Bumthang – Eastern Bhutan
Bumthang is a must-visit place if you Travel Bhutan. Bumthang is also known as the second Switzerland by most of the travelers who have been there. The valleys are broad and gentle carved by the ancient glaciers. The wide and scenic valleys draw a large number of tourists each year. This dzongkhag is one of the most richly endowed districts in terms of historical and spiritual legacy. Some of Bhutan’s oldest and most venerated temples are found in Bumthang, including Jambey Lhakhang (The oldest temple in Bhutan). You can either take a domestic plane or drive from the capital which will take around 8 to 12 hours.
4. Punakha Fort
Punakha Fort (Dzong) is also known as the palace of great bliss is a magnificent fortress situated between two rivers, the male and the female river. Lovely lilac-coloured jacaranda trees grow around the fortress during the spring season. Punakha Dzong is the fort where the King and queen married and is also the winter residence of central monk body.
5. Enachating Paro Valley
The charming valley of Paro comprises both the ancient as well as the modern face of Bhutan.
Paro is the home to some of the oldest and most revered temples in Bhutan including the 7th century Kichu lhakhang (Temple) built by tibetan king Songtsen Gampo to The iconic Tigers nest.
You can enjoy some authentic Bhutanese cuisine & traditional Bhutanese herbal hot stone baths at farm stays, in order to get relaxed or you can get a good massage from a professional masseuse at any salon in Paro town.
The town has many souvenirs shops to shop around for your loved ones back home or you can enjoy the nightlife of Paro valley.
Paro has some nice modern cafeterias, pubs & clubs and you can let your driver drive to the view point, where you can see the airport full of lights below the mighty mountains.
