Authentic Bhutan Tour Itinerary

The remarkable and steep descent into the Paro valley is an awe-inspiring beginning to an adventure of a lifetime.

Paro is the gateway to Bhutan, home to the only international airport. This is where you begin your journey to the land of happiness.

After visa formalities and collection of baggage, you will be greeted by the Bhutanese representative from Lucky Dragon Tours and Treks.

You will visit Ta Dzong (watchtower), built in 1649 to protect the undefended Dzong and renovated in 1968 to house the National Museum.

Later on, you can visit the majestic Paro Rinpung Dzong (fort) also known as fortress on a heap of jewels. This is the fort where the Hollywood movie “Little Buddha” staring Keanu reeves was shot. It once once served as the meeting hall for the National Assembly but now it houses both the monastic body and district government offices, including the local courts.

This fort has been used on various occasions to protect Paro from the invasion of Tibet.

Enchating Paro Valley

The historical town of Paro lies at the centre of a valley rich in sacred sites and ancient buildings and forms part of the core of exceptional destinations in Bhutan.

Home to the only international airport in the country, this pretty destination is covered with terraced paddy fields and quaint farmhouses scattered throughout the valley in the lower areas.

In the upper reaches, coniferous forests look down onto the beautiful Paro Chhu River, which snakes its way below.
Today is the big day, hike to the famous Tiger’s Nest.

No trip in Bhutan would be complete without the hike to Tigers Nest monastery.

Shrouded in mystery and myths with stories of numerous miracles associated with the monastery.

Thimphu is the capital city of Bhutan, it combines a natural small-town feel with a new commercial exuberance that constantly challenges the country’s natural conservatism and Shangri La image.

Thimphu have some cafes, bars, nightclubs and restaurants. Finding a balance between the esoteric and espresso – the old and the new – is the key to getting the most out of this charming city.

Memorial stupa:
Built in the honour of the late third King of Bhutan, the father of Modern Bhutan, this Chorten (stupa) is centrally located for young and old people to pray.

The three forms of Chortens (stupas):
Bhutanese, Nepalese and Tibetan. These stupas dates back to the early 15th century built by the Divine Mad Man.

Buddha Dordeonma:
It’s one of the largest sitting Buddha in the world at a height of 169 feet made of bronze and gilded in gold.

Overlooking the capital city, the view is splendid and you can stroll around the attraction snapping some pictures for your travel memories.

After this, you can walk around the nature park just beside the Buddha statue and realx yourself in the palms of nature with a cup of hot coffee.

Tashi Cho Dzong
Built in the 16th century, it is the largest Dzong (fort) and is also the seat of the office of the king.

Allowed to visit after office hours and on weekends.

Dinner at a Traditional Bhutanese restaurant with Bhutanese delicacy.

After breakfast, you will be driving to Dochula (Mountain pass). You will be greeted with glorious views of snow-capped mountains and the scenic beauty of Dochula pass.

Dochula pass lies in the mid-way to Punakha from Thimphu at an altitude of 3,100 meters above sea level. The pass is a popular location among tourists as it offers a stunning 360-degree panoramic view of the Himalayan mountain range. After lunch, We will hike to Cheri Monastery.

Cheri Monastery Hike gives you an insight into the natural discovery of Himalayan vegetation. The hiking trail passes through the off-beaten forest where one often gets to spot a variety of birdlife.

The Cheri Monastery area has a serene energy field which makes the hike enjoyable through the shades of the giant trees. The moment you get off the car Roaring river confluence of Dodena , will welcome you.

During evening hours, we will drive back to Paro for our next morning flight back to Delhi.
